Brady Sucks His Thumb

Brady's Workout Video

Weekly Weigh-In Week 7

He did it again, Brady gained another pound this week. He is now 11lbs 13 ounces. He was at 11lbs 14.9 ounces, but then he had a giant poopy and it brought him down a couple of ounces. The good thing is now that he is so big he can finally fit into the outfit we originally bought for him to wear home from the hospital. He looks so darn cute! It was too hot to put the entire outfit on so the photo op will have to settle for his onesie only. It reads "My Lil Peanut" seeing as how Nick and I always called him peanut while in the womb we thought it only fitting for him to have an outfit. It came with an adorable hat, booties and hand mitts, can't wait to try them all out together. Hope you enjoy.

Congrats to the Balster Family

Congrats Matt and Laci on your new arrival, Maxton Lavern Balster. He arrived at 11:10pm on July 23rd and was 9.5lbs. Nick and I are so happy for you guys and can't wait to meet Maxton in a few weeks. We're looking forward to seeing lots of pictures in the meantime. We're also glad all went well and everyone is fine! Congrats again and best wishes!

Weekly Weigh-In Week 6

Brady continues to amaze Nick and I with his weight gain. He gained almost another pound this week which puts him at 10lbs 13ounces. He is getting so chubby, it's adorable. His cute little chubby cheeks are now turning into BIG chubby cheeks. His belly isn't too far behind the cheeks either. When we were at the Big Bear Farmer's Market one of the vendors called him a buda baby!

Big Bear Vacation

We took a mini-vacation to Big Bear Lake this week with Grandma and Grandpa Lehman and it was wonderful and relaxing. Our cottage was the same cottage we stayed at for our ski trip in February. It's a three bedroom, two bath, two story house; not quite the same as our cottage in Northern Michigan. Nick and Grandpa rented a fishing boat and went out on the lake one day while Grandma, Brady and I took a few walks and relaxed around the cabin. We all went to the lake on our second day and Grandma and I took Brady on the Boardwalks and to the farmers' market while Dad and Grandpa fished. Again it was so beautiful and relaxing. One of the best parts was we were able to escape the heat. It was only in the 80's up there. I think the grandparents enjoyed the reprieve from the harsh desert climate.

It was amazing to see Brady's reaction to the outdoors. Being so hot in the desert he rarely gets to venture outside. Based on his reaction to the wind, sun, and sounds of nature I think he's going to be a lot like his dad and love the great outdoors. Like a true outdoors man, we also introduced Brady to fishing, I think he likes it. We can't wait to get Brady and cousin Jack fishing together in August. Grandpa has already been talking about bringing back the father daughter fishing trips we used to go on except now we have to add the boys!

The Weekly Weigh-In...Week 5

Today was our weekly weigh-in and Brady is still packing on the pounds. With his clothes on he was at 10 pounds 3 ounces. He is continuing his trend of gaining a pound a week. Some of the moms who were having some problems at the group were all jealous of how well he is doing. The lactation specialist was very proud of him! I'm a little worried though if he keeps this trend going. The funny part is he still has a hard time fitting into any of the 0-3 month clothing and is still primarily wearing newborn clothes. He can fit into some 0-3 onesies, but that's about it. He has a very long torso and big buda belly to hide the poundage. Attached is a picture of him today in his half jack-pine half preppy boy outfit...gottah love the camo.

Solid Food...

Nick tried to introduce solid food to Brady at an early age, but was caught :-). He looks so adorable with those big blue eyes!

My First Vacation

My parents flew into San Diego on July 12, so Nick and I decided to take Brady for a little family vacation as a trial run for our big trip in August. We left Friday morning and took the Pacific Coast Highway to Oceanside Beach. This was Brady's first time really being outside (since it's so hot in the desert) and he did very well. We put him in the front carrier and went for a walk on the beach. I think he really enjoyed the wind hitting his face...something he's not used to. From here we took the PCH all the way to Torrey Pines State Reserve and then off to Aunt Mindy's house.

The next day we ventured to Silver Strand Beach on Coronado Island for Aunt Mindy's 30th birthday party. Again he loved the breeze and actually being able to set foot outside. After the party we went to the airport and picked up Grandma and Grandpa Lehman. This was the first time grandpa met Brady...he was so excited to see his little grand baby. It was absolutely precious to see them together.

The next day Grandma, Brady and I went for a stroller ride and lunch at downtown La Jolla while dad, aunt mindy, uncle chris and grandpa went kayaking through the caves in the La Jolla Cove. We all had a great time.

Our last day we went to Torrey Pines Beach and hung out all afternoon. Brady slept yet again all day at the beach and loved it. He hung out on under the ez-up with Grandma and was completely relaxed. It was a great trip.

Below are some pics from our trip.

Weigh-in and more...

Yesterday was our weekly weigh-in and once again Brady gained almost another pound. He is now up to 8lbs 15oz. He gained 13oz in one week. He is doing very well in the weight gain area. We're so proud of him and are loving his chubby cheeks...his little chicken legs are finally filling out too. No more hanging skin for this little boy!

On another note, today is his one month birthday! It's hard to believe a month has already gone by. The time really does fly by. Enclosed are pictures of his chubby cheeks (one month photo) and his favorite ewww face.

Happy Fourth of July...

Brady hopes you all had a happy Fourth! Our little Firecracker enjoyed his first fourth. We went to our friends' house for a BBQ and to watch the fireworks from their house. It was one of Brady's first outings and he handled it very well.

We're also learning he likes the cerveza :-) (JK)

My First Tub Bath

Last night we gave Brady his first tub bath. Seeing how he absolutely HATED his sponge baths we've been giving him Nick and I weren't exactly looking forward to this event. You can imagine our surprise when he loved his bath. Our bath comes with a shower sprayer and he loved having the water poured over him. He did grab onto the cord for most of the bath, but didn't cry once during or after. We took a small video and took some pix of the event, hope you enjoy them.

Loving Support

Yesterday Brady and I attended our first Loving Support "class/get together". Loving Support is organized by lactation specialists and is a meeting place for moms to get together and meet other moms and babies of similar age and also discuss problems/concerns with breastfeeding. They also offer support to moms and do weekly weigh-ins for babies. This particular group meets at a baby furniture store called Jadabugs. There were three other little boys, one 9 weeks, 6 months and 9 months and a little girl just two weeks old. It was nice to get out of the house and meet other moms. They were all very kind. One of them even started her own mom website called http://www.itsamomthing.com/. It's basically like a blogspot, facebook or myspace for moms. It allows moms to communicate, chat, and you can create your own webpage. The creator of the site definitely has her hands full. She has a ten year old, gave birth to twins in Feb of 07 and then gave birth to a son on New Year's Eve of Dec 07. She had three kids in less than a year...bless that woman's heart. It was interesting to hear all of their stories to say the very least.

Taking advantage of the scale at this session, I weighed Brady and at three weeks old (I can't believe he's 3 weeks old!!) he weighs 8lbs 2oz. This means he gained over a pound yet again this week. If he keeps up this rate of a pound a week he's going to be one large baby!!! The ladies told me I had fat milk and he must be enjoying it!!! Those chubber cheeks sure are filling out!!
